Wombles Steakhouse Restaurant located in the trendy suburb of Parktown North, a suburb that has many old colonial-style houses, and iconic street-side tables, manages to maintain a village atmosphere. Wombles, is a majestic colonial type homestead accompanied by a truly African style cuisine. The wide veranda makes for a serene setting in summer and the walls which are embellished with animal trophies enhances the colonial feel of the experience.

A selection of choicest cuts of quality beef, poultry, pasta and seafood are on the daily menu with a carefully selected range of popular dishes. These include tantalizing starters such as prawn and mushroom cocktail, marrow bones, gypsy spits while a few of their splendid gourmet steaks are fillet 250g, sirloin 500g, t-bone and their scrumptious prime rib 700g. Desserts are equally delicious, Crepe Suzette, Pavlova, Chocolate Mousse cake and many more dishes to tempt you!

The wine list changes every three months, and is compiled with care, pride and with the utmost attention. Ntida Calligraphy, Avondale La Luna, Topiary Cabernet Sauvignon, Kevin Arnold Shiraz and Luddite Shiraz are but a few examples of the great wines available. The separate list for wines that are served by the glass is particularly helpful, and for those who enjoy the good things in life, cigars, single malts and cognacs are also listed.

Since 1984 Wombles Steakhouse Restaurant has provided customers in Zimbabwe with man-size portions of Zimbabwean beef and other culinary delights. Owners Duncan and Yvette Barker have now opened Wombles in Parktown North after a period in Australia where they owned Campo de Fiori. A testimony to their success in Australia was winning the Gold Plate Award, which is the highest honour a restaurant can receive. After owning and managing over 7 establishments the Barker family has settled on Johannesburg. They were missing Africa and wanted to take concepts from other restaurants and lodges they had owned and incorporate the themes and food styles into one.

With the help of some of their original staff members from Harare, the restaurant maintains to be a well-respected local favourite. Fully seated Wombles, seats over 100 diners.
