Gary Player Golf Course
Johannesburg
The Gary Player Country Club golf course forms part of the Sun City entertainment complex and borders Lost City golf course, which was also designed by Gary Player. The course lies in the crater of an extinct volcano, which ensures that the players have beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
The Country Club has earned the reputation of being the number one South African golf course, not only because of its scenic beauty, but also because
it is an extremely challenging course, with, as they say, 'every club in the bag being tested along the way'. This is because the layout favours no particular shape of shot.
From the championship tees the course stretches over 7,000 metres - but players can either use the standard or the forward tees can be used without losing the unique character of the course.
Sun City is also home to the Nedbank Golf Challenge, Africa's premier golf tournament. This year's Nedbank Golf Challenge, with 12 of the world's top golfers, will take place from 29 November to 2 December 2012 at the famous Gary Player Country Club at Sun City.
Please Note: 9 Holes are not permitted at the Gary Player Golf Course; the course is a walking course; no golf carts available; and it is closed on Mondays for routine maintenance.
