Kiwayu Rooms:

The resort has 18 thatched cottages, known locally as bandas, along the shore of the ocean. The floors are woven matting, and while the cottages are rustic, there is 24-hour electricity. The rooms have a large bedroom, a dressing area with double sinks, and a shower with solar-heated hot water. The cottages have private verandahs. Guests can lie in a king-sized bed draped in mosquito netting, listening to the waves, or relax in a gently rocking hammock. All of the furniture is locally made, as are the construction materials, providing not only a unique setting, but income for local communities. The neutral tones of natural materials are brightened with colorful textiles used in bedding and pillows. The cottages are not air-conditioned, and there is no television.

For a more private retreat, the property also offers the “Baobabs of Kitangani”, a separate getaway on Kiwayu Island, about 2 km across the bay from the main lodge. This romantic hideaway features a living room and an en-suite bedroom on the beach, with the feeling of a tree house overlooking the water. There is a private beach, and a private staff.

Kiwayu Restaurants & Bars:

The hotel's culinary staff prepares a daily set menu featuring a wide variety of fresh seafood, pasta and salads. The hotel can meet dietary restrictions and provide food for children upon request. There is also a wine cellar.

Kiwayu Facilities:

The property can arrange for a number of activities, including turtle watching (depending on the season), guided walking safaris, boat trips to various local attractions, and snorkeling. Water sports and deep-sea fishing are also available. There is no swimming pool, but there are sheltered areas of the beach for swimming. The resort can arrange for weddings on the beach. The property has mobile phone coverage, and there is Wi-Fi internet access near the main lodge office. The property supports various environmental causes and runs a secondary student sponsorship programme in the village of Mkokoni.
