Rural Resources Africa in partnership with Capacity Africa Institute are organizing 42km and 21km marathon in Lari District on Saturday 1st March 2013 .

The marathon has a primary objective of creating awareness about the conservation of the Kereita forest while educating the local community on the importance of conservation and sustainable forestry. The marathon is the only event in Kenya where participants will run inside the forest to demonstrate commitment to conservation.

Fund raised from the marathon will be used to:

1) To plant indigenous and fruit trees in local schools and in the forest to achieve the environmental conservation agenda.

2) To train teachers in computer skills

3) To distribute computers in selected primary and secondary schools in Lari , set up computer labs and provide technical support for computer maintenance

4) To award academic scholarships to outstanding pupils in both primary and secondary schools in schools around Kereita Forest

Following the completion of the Marathon, there will be a music concert dubbed “Jazz in the Wild” where leading Kenyan artists will perform. Top Kenyan artists will perform at the concert.

    Driving on Nairobi- Nakuru Road, Turn at Kimende Shopping Center Junction. There will be a sign on the road written "ari Marathon". Proceed to Lari District Headquarters and onto Carbacid Road. Outside the Carbacid Gate is where the Marathon will start and end on 1st March 2014
