Our Locals' Tip: Why not also visit the KWS Animal Orphanage and take a game drive in the National Park as both these activities are found at the same location.
The KWS Safari Walk is an activity that gives you an opportunity to see Kenya’s wildlife at close quarters in the fresh air, rather than seeing it all from the back of a safari jeep or car window!
The Safari Walk is a lovely stroll through a beautifully landscaped and natural environment. There’s a good selection of animals including the rare bongo, white rhino, albino zebra, a collection of cats (cheetah, lion etc), antelopes and primates. It’s a pleasant walk, which takes between 1-2 hours depending on how interested you are in all the animals. A raised boardwalk with interesting information plaques about the flora and fauna takes you around the animal enclosures. It’s found next to the main gate to the Nairobi National Park (and the Headquarters of the Kenya Wildlife Society).
The Nairobi Safari Walk is also home to a collection of about 150 species of indigenous trees. Introductory talks on Kenya's parks and reserves, can be arranged by the naturalists based at the centre, so ask at the ticket office if you need assistance or a guided tour.
The best time to visit is at 2:30 pm and it’s open daily from 8:30 am-5:30 pm.
The Nairobi Safari Walk is at the KWS Main Entrance which is about 1km from Wilson Airport. Here you will also find the the KWS animal Orphanage, the main entrance to the Nairobi National Park and Rangers Restaurant.
