Ramoma Art Gallery Overview

Well worth a visit, this beautiful gallery has artwork by contemporary Kenyan artists which is displayed in very nice surroundings . The Rahimtulla Museum of Modern Art (RaMoMA) is set in a large house with open, well lit spaces. It has an active schedule of regular exhibitions of art and sculpture. RaMoMA also runs art workshops for adults and children.

With the support of a grant from the Ford Foundation, the Rahimtulla Trust was founded by Carol Lees and Mary Collis in 2001. The Museum operates as a registered Charity.

It has a lovely detached salesroom within the grounds which sells the best of Kenyan artwork, ranging from clothing, postcards, carftwork, paintings etc. This is definitely worth going to if you enjoy art and culture.

RaMoMa moved from it's location in central Nairobi many years ago (it used to be in a skyscraper) The new premises is now a little easier to get to, and is a lot nicer with a well laid out garden and more leafy surroundings.

Opening Times: 9.30-4.30pm but please confirm in advance.

I absolutely loved this gallery with it's diverse exhibits. The staircase alone with it's fabulous animals is worth seeing- I still smile when I recall it.

This is a fabulous and very unexpected find! It's a wonderful but pretty small art gallery full of treasures and has a really nice shop within the grounds. I never would have found it if my friend hadn't taken me as it's pretty tucked away in the middle of this vibrant Indian area.. Well worth searching out.
