Our Local Experts say:
One of the best ways to experience Traditional Thai food as the locals do, roadside restaurants, noodle and soup stands serve some of the tastiest, freshest Thai food you'll experience on the island and it's super cheap.
Living here, we eat at these type of places everyday and we have our favourites dotted around the island. There's no fancy decor or big foreign language signage, the kitchen is usually open and not far from your simple wooden or bamboo table. The menus are simple, all with English language text, and pictures of the food. The service is as good as you will find in the more upmarket restauarants and the food is just as good. These are traditional places for Thais to eat. An indication of how good the food is can be measured by the amount of Thais you see dining there. Although it is not always the case, as we have found out, that is why we a compiling you a list of our favourites here.
