The Cracovia Danza Court Dance Festival is an extraordinary event which is held annually in Krakow and attracts vast numbers of tourists and dance enthusiasts.
Performances, concerts and shows combine court dance with fine arts, live music, poetry and pantomime, and seek to rediscover the roots of the history and customs of various countries of Europe and the world. Thus, by using modern means of expression, the artists bring the contemporary audience closer to historical figures, dance and theatrical forms and costumes. At the same time each subsequent edition of the festival provides the audience with an insight into the history of European court dancing, with authentic choreographies based on treatises by old masters, performed to the accompaniment of live music in the historic area of Kraków (including Wawel Royal Castle, the Barbican and the Villa Decius.
