Stalowe Magnolie, or Steel Magnolias, is a suave and somewhat rakish music club and bar located on Jana Street, just off the Main Square. It features high quality live music pretty much every night of the week, with the emphasis on smooth jazz, soul or blues. The interior has something of the feel of a Parisian fin-de-siecle cabaret club, with oodles of red fabrics and twinkly lights, and walls bedecked with musical instruments and vinyl records. The vibe is up-market and the clientele generally well dressed and well off.
First up on the way in is a lounge bar where elegant waitresses waft expertly mixed drinks to your table. Leading off from this is the music room, where small tables cluster around the stage and you can enjoy the evening's performance whilst relaxing in stylish comfort. Further still is the VIP lounge where, for a small consideration, you can recline, Roman-style, on velvet-cushioned couches, and which has its own bar and DJ booth.
In addition to scheduled performances, Stalowe Magnolie can also be commissioned for private functions or special events, and with its particular style and ambience is perfectly suited for occasions when the need to impress is paramount.
Stalowe Magnolie is popular with Krakow's social elite, and it's not uncommon to see familiar faces from Polish TV mixing with sharp-suited businessmen and beautiful women in evening gowns. Rumour has it that it is a favourite haunt of Nigel Kennedy's when he's in town, but either way Stalowie Magnolie can be firmly recommended as a first class night out in Krakow.
