Castor Coffee Club OverviewAs Paris Hilton’s great-grandfather once said, it’s all about ‘location, location and location’. In Krakow, the Main Square is the prime location, and there’s a strong case for saying that being on the corner of Florianska Street and the Main Square, right next to St Mary’s Church, is about as good as it gets.
So, welcome to the Castor Coffee Club, which has the good fortune to occupy this spot. Krakow is now experiencing the second wave of ‘coffee boutiques’ that started off in Seattle in the 90s, with several brands, both imported and domestic, attempting to woo the favours of an increasingly discerning customer base. The priority is of course top quality coffee, served in a variety of shapes and sizes, with or without milk, cream or more exotic flavourings. But a big part of the larger experience is the availability of other things, such as snacks, sandwiches, soft drinks, fruit smoothies and a relaxing and comfortable ambience.
To this end, Castor is furnished with both regular chairs and tables, and with funky orange sofas somewhat reminiscent of 70s sci-fi shows. Outside, facing the square, is a terrace – one of an increasing number thoughtful enough to provide blankets for when summer becomes but a distant memory. Inside or out, brisk friendly service means you can get on with the business of relaxing or studying (or even business!) whilst enjoying a coffee, tea or a light bite to eat. As is the norm these days there is also free Wi-Fi.
It’s also pleasing to see that Poland has excellent home-grown alternatives to the multi-national coffee brands currently taking over the world. With its great menu and its attention to the important details, plus of course that top location, Castor Coffee Club is sure to be a popular choice with many.
