Internet

With high speed broadband available across the city, majority of pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, diners and hotels offers free WiFi connections to all their customers. However if you did not bring any WiFi connective device, fear not as throughout the city there are thousands of internet cafés which cost about US 1 dollar for an hour and mostly operate 24 hours a day.

Telephone

Public telephone kiosks are easily available throughout the city. It is advisable to buy a local Telco sim card since it only cost about US2-3 dollars for a prepaid pack. With low IDD and local call rate available from local telco providers and easy connectivity, it would be a wise investment.

Newspapers, novels and magazines

The local newspaper which covers Malaysia and global news are News Straits Times and The Star. International newspapers and magazines can be bought from large bookstores or magazine outlets.  A wide selection of bestselling and new novels are also available in bookstores such as Popular, Borders and MPH. Head over to Central Market or Pasar Seni, there a really good 2nd hand book store there if you intend to just read and discard it after your holiday in Kuala Lumpur to avoid carrying excess baggage.
