Spring

Spring in London carries with it the tones of winter: a breeze with sharp teeth and fleeting showers dominate months from March - May. Make sure there's an brolly handy and maybe some wellies. Otherwise, spring in London is a beautiful time of year with the daffodils bathing its parks in streaks of gold.

Summer

The 'Great British Summer' is lovely when it comes around, usually best in July - late August. You're likely to see all of London's popular parks littered with sunbathers, book-readers, football-kickers and frisbee-throwers. Short sleeves, flip flops and shorts/skirts are the picks of the season for a London summer and, if  you use the The Tube in London, beware of the sweltering subterrainean temperatures.

Autumn

The most colourful season of the lot, autumn brings rusty hues to London with the red, yellow, orange and golden leaves. Colourful, yes. Messy, even more so. Piles of sloppy, wet leaves accumulate on the pavements and, from September - November, this time of year sees temperatures drop. Keep a jacket with you. Thin but warm underlayers are good as well, especially with the occasional frost that autumn brings.

Winter

A different season altogether. One that sees London spiral into a moody gloom. Temperatures shrivel being lucky to reach somewhere over ten degrees. Come late December - February, you'll need to dig your old fluffy jacket out of the cupboard and hunker down inside it all day. A hat would be useful for extra warmth. Women may choose to wear thick boots, and bulky trousers are strongly advised throughout this period.
