Spring

Watch out for those frequent showers leftover from winter and carrying on to rejuvinate the year in spring. Keep an umbrella at a close distance; there will be a strong chance of its use. Wellington boots or water-resistant footwear could be a necessity, as the months from late March to June tend to dribble with raindroplets.

Summer

Ah, the British summer. It's lovely when it comes around, usually best in July - September. Short-sleeved tops and shorts are recommended, though a light jacket could be useful as our weather can be sporadic. London is, however, a heat trap. So straying too far from the centre might see temeperatures drop slightly. Also, if you plan on using the tube, be prepared for sweltering temperatures. The Tube is often much warmer than the outside air.

Autumn

Quite an attractive season what with all the colourful leaves. A messy one though, and potentially dangerous. Slippery piles of wet leaves are always a hazard, so mind your step. This is the time of the year where temperatures begin their decline, so more and more often, you'll need a jacket at hand. Warm underlayers are good too, especially for the chilly, sometimes frosty mornings that autumn brings and tags onto the beginning of winter.

Winter

A different season altogether, one that sees London delve into a moody gloom. Temperatures shrink right down, being lucky to reach somewhere over ten degrees. Come late November through to February, you'll need to dig your old fluffy jacket out of the cupbaord and hunker down inside that all day. A hat would be useful, too, since you lose most of your body heat through your head. Women may choose to wear thick boots, and bulky trousers are strongly advised throughout this period.
