Visited by royalty in the 17th and 18th centuries, the back bar of the pub was called the 'Royal Box'. Now under new management, the pub still serves its great British and French menu and its refreshing beers.
The menu of the Rose and Crown comprises dishes prepared with the freshest and finest ingredients and attention to detail. They come well presented and in generous portions. The à la carte menu includes favourites such as guinea fowl with Brussels sprouts, white truffle puree, fondant potato with caramelised chestnuts and jus gras, confit of Welsh shoulder of lamb with a pea and mint risotto and beef shin burger with triple cooked hand-cut chips. The pub’s wine list has won several awards and presents international bins ranging from an excellent house wine to more extravagant choices.
