![]() Gopal's of Soho OverviewSpecialising in authentic Indian cuisine served in the heart of London’s ever-vibrant Soho district, Gopal’s of Soho has forged itself a solid reputation as something that is much more than a mere ‘curry house’. Delivering extremely friendly service, all guests are made to feel at home as soon as they enter, while the cuisine on offer is produced using only the freshest ingredients, and cooked using traditional Indian methods.
A family-run business, Gopal's opened in 1988 and within seven years was awarded the National Restaurant of the Year by the Daily Mirror, and also features on the Egon Ronay Guide to fine dining. It is also in the Frommers guidebook, so expect to see a number of American backpackers, guidebook in hand and glass of water in the other as their red faces reveal they’ve just sampled one of Gopal's ‘spicier’ curries.
The traditional menu at Gopal's will spring a few surprises on even the most ardent curry lover. All traditional names, cooking methods and ingredients are maintained, delivering an authenticity that is much more than a gimmick. The Murgi, Gosht and Roti menus will look familiar, but why not see what Prarambh specials take your fancy, or whether the Khaas Baat will rock you? All rice dishes, sides, breads, wines and beers are exquisite too, making this a great place for a large social gathering, or simply an intimate meal for two. |
