Our Locals' Tip: The concierge staff here are some of the most knowledgeable in London; ask them where to go next for a great day out and they'll more than likely suggest something exciting.

Proud recipient of the Award of Excellence 2008 and 2009 given by the British Tea Guild Council, the afternoon tea at The Goring is a favourite among Londoners and hotel guests. The restaurant is situated within the elegant five-star Goring Hotel on Beeston Place in Grosvenor Garden. Your session of afternoon tea could overlook the beautiful private Oasis Garden. Simply sit back and let the excellent waiting staff serve you aromatic tea and freshly-baked scones until your stomach's full and your wallet's empty.

The Goring serves its afternoon tea in the way it was intended. An occasion to bridge the gap between lunch and late supper, to be enjoyed in your favourite company, and to treat everyone with some fresh pastries. Guests can choose between the traditional Afternoon Tea which includes a selection of finger sandwiches, homemade scones and delicate afternoon tea pastries for £37.50, or the Bollinger Afternoon Tea for £47.50 which includes the same treats, but starts off with a glass of Bollinger Champagne accompanied with strawberries and cream.

(It's always advised to book a table).

*New for May 2012*

Alex Monroe, a famous British jewellery designer, has teamed up with The Goring to create a unique necklace called The Goring Shrimp. It was created in order to highlight the shrimp pot that The Goring provides alongside its selection of teas.

To begin with, the necklace will be a hallmark of The Goring only but, from the end of May 2012, it will also be available for purchase from Monroe's own shop at London Bridge, and from his website. The necklace itself, coming in at £165, is made by Monroe out of beautiful rose gold with a pair of tiny black pearls as its eyes. Such is its anticipation, it's supposed to be the item of jewellery for the spring of 2012.

Tea Times: Tea is served daily from 3pm – 5pm and is served either on the hotel’s terrace or in the lounge depending on the weather and availability.
