Los Angeles Weather

For a city that gets an average of 329 days of sunshine per year, you might expect much hotter weather in this part of the world, but ocean breezes from the Pacific Ocean and the mountains to the north and east of the city keep the temperature moderate.  December to April is considered the rainy season, but storms tend be short and quickly give way to blue skies.  There are benefits to visiting Los Angeles during any season.

If you are visiting Los Angeles during mid to late summer into early fall, you need little more than your bathing suit and a pair of flip flops because you are probably going to want to spend most of your time next to the pool or at the beach, but don't forget a hip new outfit to hit the nightlife in!  If you are coming during the winter months this is usually a good time to go to Disneyland or other more popular tourist attractions without having to fight the summer crowds but you may be surprised that you'll need a jacket, especially at night.  Spring and autumn are both beautiful times of year in Southern California; spring brings a myriad of blossoms and gorgeous clear days while autumn is warm and dry, perfect for night or day activities of any kind.  Be warned though that late spring can bring what is referred to as "May Grey" and "June Gloom" to beach cities, where the city can lie under a blanket of marine layer for a good part of the day usually burning off by late morning but sometimes not until late afternoon and sometimes not at all.
