In La Verbena de la Paloma, the masterpiece of our musical theatre, its protagonists are about to go to the street party, thinking that there, they will solve their love life problems, but the fact is that they never manage to meet up at the street party because a huge brawl prevents them. We never see this street party that our protagonists are trying to reach in La Verbena.

We are in the Madrid of Galdós. With musical numbers for greater enjoyment taken from emblematic titles from the “little genre” or “género chico”, such as El amigo Melquiades and El pobre Valbuena.

Just as it was enjoyed in the Teatro Apolo, we will return with Don Hilarión, la Casta, la Susana, la tía Antonia, la señá Rita and Julián, the honourable printing press typesetter…all of them in conflict due to some badly repressed Jealousy, which as Calderón de la Barca said… kill just by being in the air. And of course, in the end there is a confrontation, a fight, tender and funny situations all resolved with perfect music. We are talking about a reference work, the “Cathedral” of the “Género Chico”.
