Albufera National Park

The ecologically diverse Parc Natural de S'Albufera is a large (1688 hectares) wetland area in the north of Mallorca between Alcúdia and Can Picafort. S'Albufera was given National Park status on 28th February 1988, thus becoming the first natural area in the Balearics to receive this protection.
This nature lover's paradise provides a welcome relief from sun, sea and beach, with free entry to a protected environment where you can see up to 200 species of birds, a huge variety of plants and wildflowers, insects and fish, plus some unusual amphibians, reptiles and mammals. No motor vehicles are permitted to enter the park, so you either walk or cycle through the 1700 hectares. Bikes can be hired near the park entrance, and we suggest that you take bug repellant, as well as water and a good hat. Local buses stop near the entrance or, if you take your own car, you can park across the road at the Hotel Parc Natural.
Visiting hours are from 09:00 to 18:00 between 1st April and 30th September, with closing time one hour earlier the rest of the year. Free guides are available at the Visitor Centre, where you also collect your visitor permit. Two hour guided tours with environmental staff can be booked for Saturday mornings only, and are limited to less than 20 people. For bookings, phone the Conselleria de Media Ambient on 971 176 800.
