Illes Balears Ballooning have over 20 years experience of flying tourists above Mallorca, and they aim to give you an unforgettable experience, full of new insights into this beautiful place. Many visitors to Mallorca, and even some residents, gain only superficial impressions of the island, and a flight with Illes Balears Ballooning provides not only an exciting but relaxing experience, but also the opportunity to learn more about interesting geographical features, the origins of many place names, the history of large family estates, sites of prehistoric settlements, and ancient municipal boundaries. The experience includes the opportunity to sample a tempting selection of local products and dishes.

IBB begins their flights from various points on the island, in accordance with the wind direction, but most flights start from meeting places in the east, in the arc between Artá and Porto Cristo. At the meeting point, equipment is checked, the wind direction is confirmed, safety rules are carefully explained to all passengers, and finally the balloon is inflated - so exciting!

After lift off, the IBB balloon flies mainly at between 100 to 300 metres above the ground so that the landscape can be seen in maximum detail. However, the balloon will also climb to around 500 metres for a panoramic view of the whole of Mallorca, celebrated with an airborne toast of champagne or cava.

During the flight, the IBB pilot will explain, in your own language, more about balloon flying in general, as well as about the history and characteristics of the area over which you are flying. After about an hour, the descent will be started, and a suitable landing spot identified.

After the equipment has been secured, you'll be taken to a nearby restaurant, where IBB invites customers to a supper with selected Mallorcan produce and wines. In accordance with tradition, the new balloonists are baptised and formally welcomed into the brotherhood of balloonists. Your pilot will present you with a flight certificate, and a CD with the day's best photographs, as souvenirs of an unforgettable experience.

Illes Balears Ballooning is fully licensed for passenger transport, aerial photography and publicity flights by the Civil Aviation Authority and flights are conducted in radio contact with Palma Air Traffic Control.
