Whilst the vast majority of accommodation in Malta are centred around tourism resorts by the sea, Point de Vue sits proudly in Rabat just outside the main gate of Malta’s former mediavel capital, Mdina, a World Heritage Site and the highlight of any visitor to the Maltese islands. The surrounding countryside not only offers lovely views from most of the Point de Vue Guesthouse rooms but is also a great area to explore through some great hiking options. Also housed within the guesthouse is the recommended The Butcher’s Grill restaurant, an original take on Mediterranean cuisine with an African twist. Recommended for: Guests who would like to see Malta beyond its sun, sand and sea image. Baroque mediavel gems, Roman ruins, woodlands and spectacular cliffs are all within easy reach. Point de Vue Guesthouse Accommodation: The Point de Vue has many stories of its own being housed in a 17th century building and having originally opened its doors as a guesthouse in 1889. It served as a control tower and accommodation for British pilots during World War II when it also suffered a fatal direct hit from a stray bomb. Through the meticulous efforts of today’s Maltese-South African owners, many features have been restored to their original glory making it a truly unique accommodation. The relatively recent conversion works includes walls having been stripped back to their original stonework. The spacious twelve twin and double rooms available at the Point de Vue feel fresh and clean. Most have panoramic views of the surrounding countryside all the way down to the Mediterranean sea in the distance. The rest overlook the historic Mdina bastions and skyline. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms and are equipped with Cable TV and cooling / heating facilities.
