As with other accommodation, the bulk of the 3 star hotels in Malta may be found in the Sliema / St Julian's area and in the Bugibba / Qawra area , with other good options available in Mellieha and in Gzira too.
The rates offered in 3 star hotels in Malta can be incredibly competitive. However, it is important to do good research in order to avoid any surprises. The standard of 3 star hotels in Malta is not always the same as that of other European countries. Having said that, there are some really good options in some fantastic locations with unbeatable views. The trick here is try and choose a good deal but which does not sound too good to be true... the quality and facilities offered are always reflected in the rates offered. The shoulder and low season periods (October to April) are an exception as it is possible to get a really good deal even on high standard 3 star hotels.
