![]() The Medina Restaurant OverviewThe Medina is an award winning restaurant that has been a mainstay in Malta’s fine dining scene. Noel and Paul (the owner and restaurant manager) have kept a high level of consistency throughout the years that has turned their goal of a “quality cuisine in unique surroundings, with exceptional service” into an everyday reality.
The restaurant is situated in an 11th century Norman residence in the heart of Mdina. The inside vaulted ceilings, open fireplace and vine-clustered courtyard are the perfect complement to a truly enjoyable dining experience. The Medina restaurant lends itself well to both the summer months with al fresco dining in the courtyard and to the winter months where the evocative interiors are heated by the atmospheric fireplace.
The á la carte menu designed by the talented executive chef, James Attard, is based on classical Mediterranean dishes with a modern and healthier twist. From genuine produce such as Bresaola, Mozzarella di Bufalo or a sauté of Portebello mushrooms, to juicy meats as are the char-grilled tenderloin of beef, fillet of venison or the honey lacquered magret of duck, to the most fresh Mediterranean Line fish on display. The Medina also has a ‘Flavours of Malta’ section with the best of local traditional dishes as are the ‘Aljotta’ (a rich fish soup), ‘Bragjoli tac-Canga’ (braised beef olives) and ‘Fenek Moqli’ (traditional farmhouse rabbit). The art of presentation is something that James has really taken to heart. Each dish is meticulously adorned and, if it were not for the tempting aromas, you might even think twice before cutting through the result of such tender and loving labour.
Voted as a top romantic venue, a walk round the lamp-lit narrow streets of Mdina are a perfect end (or beginning) to a truly memorable evening. An authentic explosion of natural charm and character. |
