Malta Taxi Information

Always remember to inquire and agree on a fare before you enter a taxi as these are not always determined by taxi-meters. In fact, the official White taxi services from the Malta International Airport and Valletta Waterfront Cruise terminal to all localities in Malta are based on fixed tariffs that are well labelled in the respective terminals. Prices vary from around €10 to €35 depending on your destination.

White taxis also have the possibility of picking passengers from anywhere but it is not normal to flag them down in the road as these are not normally roaming the streets in search of clients. The norm is to find them waiting at popular tourist spots around Malta.

If you need to book a taxi from at a specific time and location, your best option is to call one of the other reliable private garages that offer chauffer driven services in black taxis (similar to the UK minicab). Your hotel should be more than happy to assist you with this.

It is also possible to cross between Valletta and Senglea or Vittoriosa in the Grand Harbour using a traditional Maltese boat as a water taxi. Visit www.maltesewatertaxis.com for more information.

The only air travel link on the Maltese islands is a seaplane service between Malta (Valletta Waterfront) and Gozo (Mgarr Harbour) which runs between March and November. One way fares are circa €45. Refer to the Harbourair Seaplanes for more information.
