![]() La Casita Overview
Set in the picturesque village of La Heredia, La Casita offers a wide range of the most exquisite home cooking with a modern gourmet twist. Opened in 2007 by Lawrence Otterburn and his wife, Sasha, the restaurant was expanded and transformed at the beginning of 2011, creating a fantastic new dining experience either for lunch or dinner every day of the week. Owner/Chef Lawrence has been cooking passionately for the past 25 years, working in some of the UK's finest kitchens and alongside some extraordinary chefs namely Gordon Ramsey and Shaun Hill and he has recently done some menu development at Will Ricker's renowned restaurant E & O in London. The comfortable bar area at the entrance to the restaurant allows customers to enjoy cocktails (they make a mean Royal Mojito), a glass of fine champagne or an ice cold beer before or after their meal. The restaurant now also features the ground breaking 'Kitchen Cam', allowing diners to see the chefs preparing the delicious cuisine that the restaurant has become well-known for as well as some new dishes with a fusion edge that combine European and Oriental flavours. The magnificent terrace offers perfect al fresco dining and La Casita's Bodega offers it's customers an extensive range of wines including fantastic locally sourced wines and beer. In order to keep the menu both contemporary and seasonal La Casita have a very refreshing approach to the more standard a la carte menu. They prepare each month a set price menu including a starter and main, with an additional daily specials menu. There are usually 5 or 6 options to choose from on each course. The 2 course Lunch is priced at just 15 euros including a drink and also changes daily; the dinner menu, also 2 courses, is priced at an incredible 20 euros however there are certain dishes that have a small supplement charge. Nonetheless in our opinion La Casita is probably the best value gourmet, creative cuisine that you are likely to find on the Costa del sol! An added bonus of course is that due to the affordability of the food you can happily splash out on one of their more vintage bottles of wine, treat yourself to a glass of their fine dessert wine or go for the reserve bottle when it comes to the digestifs or the whiskey at the end of your meal. To view a sample of the menus for both lunch and dinner simply click on the menu tab on this page. We really do recommend you book your table in advance especially for dinner as this little gem quickly fills up most days.
If you prefer to dine near Nueva Andalucia you may also want to try Lawrence's other very stylish and contemporary restaurant

August 2011 A real gem...
Karianne Henderson from London
After reading the reviews on this website, we simply had to try this magical little hillside hideaway. As we pulled up at the quaint village of La Heredia en route to Ronda, we were all in awe to discover lovely white linened table cloths, sparkling lights and an ivy covered canopy framing this idellic spot. Most impressed with our settifng, we were sincerely hoping that the food would be equally as impressive. The friendly waiter welcomed us cheerily (even though we were 20 minutes late!) to our table and laid down some warm home-baked bread and fresh green olive tapenade...delicious!
The menu had been described as progressive Tapas- an explorative step further from the typical Andalucian favourites we all know and love. The tiger prawn pil pil with home-baked garlic bread had a lovely depth of flavour and a hint of smokiness from roasted garlic and paprika. Notably, the snow crab Vietnamese nam rolls were deliciously light and crisp. Accompanied by a cool, creamy yet punchy wasabi ice cream and a piquant dipping sauce. Other offerings included a twist on the traditional boquerones served with a garlic and fennel mayonnaise and deep fried asparagus with hollandaise sauce and quails egg.
The choices of main course were varied and each notably worthy of a review in their own right, however, as this review is already lengthy our highlighted favourites are as follows; seared scallops with a Thai yellow curry and lobster spinach crepe, roasted rack of lamb with a falafel crust and cous cous stuffed vine leaves, Iberico pork served with chorizo black beans and a surprising yet exceptionally well executed chicken breast remoulade served with the crispest yet fluffiest garlic potato croquettes, pearl onions and a fantastic jus.
Equally varied and pleasing was the accompanied wine list, offering mostly local Spanish wines including a lovely red wine made from 1000 year old grapes from the Ronda valley.
All in all a fantastic evening and arguably some of the best contemporary food tasted in the region - the service was also faultless with the waiters being knowledgeable, efficient and friendly.

I have dined regularly at this restaurant on La Heredia and always find the service and food to be outstanding. The staff are so helpful and polite. The location is also recommended. As a regular visitor to the area this restaurant is without doubt one of the best.

November 2010 Superb
Lisa Gunther from London
What a wonderful surprise to stumble across La Castita. Not only was the food spectacular the service was impecable. This is a real family business and what impressed me was the way Lawrence the owner and creative chef came out after to see how we enjoyed the meal and engaged with every table. I would always go back to La Castita when in Spain.

Been here twice now and I can say that it's probably the best place I've eaten in the Marbella area. Staff are excellent, food is excellent. Want to keep it to myself but have already recommended to several friends! First class - a real gem.

March 2010 Well worth the 30 minutes drive from Elviria!
Jacqueline Crouch from Elviria, Marbella, Spain
I had heard about La Casita and the great reputation of Lawrence the Owner/Chef so decided that now the sun is shining once again here in Marbella that it was a good time to go and take a drive out for a spot of lunch. I highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant as the set luncheon menu was excellent value for money and lived up to my expectations of the culinary expertise of Lawrence. The whole ambience, service (by the lovely Carolyn) and experience was delightful so I look forward to returning very soon for dinner with my friends/family. They have some great and delicious wines too! So I will return without my car...........

My family and I have been dining at La Casita for two years now and regard the combination of the setting, the food, and the service as unrivalled. We have invited a number of friends to dine with us over that time, and every last one of them has left with a smile!

Living here it is hard to find a good restaurant, with quality tasty food at reasonable prices, La Casita delivers all of this, my family including small children are always made to feel welcome, the owners Lawrence and Sasha are warm, friendly and you are always made to feel special. My family and i eat there regularly for lunch and dinner for the past 2 years and i have never had a bad meal!

March 2009 Best restaurant on the coast by a country mile
Grant Parker from Estepona
Having lived here for a number of years and spent small fortunes in hundreds of different restaurants, La Casita is a hidden gem and my personal favourite. It is a great setting, dining al fresco in a cobbled courtyard in the very pretty La Heredia village development on the Ronda Road. Its not flash and doesn't pretend to be anything its not. The chef/owner may have worked for some great chefs before including Ramsey, but this is not nouvelle cuisine. Its great, hearty, home cooked food with great fresh local produce and not at Marbella prices. With everbody tightening the purse strings Lawrence has just introduced a 14 Euro menu del dia for 2 courses with a (large) glass of wine!!
