Marbella holiday with Kids

Some useful information to help making your Marbella holiday successful

If you are coming to Marbella with kids then the most important thing is to keep them occupied during your holiday and then you might get the chance to enjoy a nice meal or a glass of something cold sitting in the sun. There is so much on offer for children in Marbella, from parks with free play areas to amusement and water parks and restaurants catering especially for kids. It can be a worry and often a hassle to think about everything you need to bring with you, but rather than bringing over-weight luggage, just take note of some alternatives on offer here and you needn't worry anymore.

Activities with Kids

If you want to spend a day in the great outdoors without breaking the bank then check out our article Free Things to do in Marbella – it offers loads of ideas from picnics in Paloma Park, which has 200,000 sqm of green areas as well as animals for the children to pet and adventure playgrounds to wear them out; to exercising with a bike ride along the Paseo or a walk up La Concha mountain.

If you fancy something more adventurous with some family fun thrown in for good measure then check out one of the fantastic theme parks all along the Costa del Sol. Our Family Fun in Marbella article lists the different parks available but our favourites have to be: Tivoliworld which has rides for both adults and children as well as many restaurants; AquaLand which has hair raising rides, a wave machine and grassy areas for relaxing; and the Bioparc Zoo in Fuengirola which has animals from all over the world to amaze and excite everyone.

Dining with Kids

When it comes to dining with children, it can be difficult to keep them amused while you enjoy a slightly longer meal. The obvious choice is to head to the beach so that the kids can play in the sand and there are some fabulous chiringuitos all along the coast where you can eat and watch your children at the same time. The beaches to the East of Marbella are a good place to go as the water is shallow. There are also some great chiringuitos by the Puerto Deportivo in Marbella which are close to climbing frames.

If however, you’ve had enough of the beach then there are also numerous restaurants with things to entertain the kids. Da Bruno a Cabopino has it’s own play area with climbing frame and the menu is vast with much to choose from; Hard Rock Cafe is always a favourite with slightly older children who can enjoy all of the memorabilia on the walls and their kids menu is cheap; and Los Arcos located between San Pedro and Cancelada which is more of a bar but does offer some dishes and it has a large play area at the back with ample seating for parents to watch their children.

Travelling to and From the Airport with Kids

If you're coming away with children who still need equipment including car seats, high chairs, then instead of bringing your own all the way from home, why not hire it when you get here. Many car hire companies will have the option for you to hire car seats at an added expense but if all you need is to get directly from the airport to your accomodation and back again then using a shuttle service like Simply Shuttles is probably the best idea. With competitive prices for airport transfers especially for groups of four or more, they also will provide a car seat for the journey for free.

If you have other items to hire then there is a new hire company near the arrival gate at Malaga airport where you can hire equipment for the duration of your stay.

Health and Medical advice for Kids

The pharmacies along the Coast are very good and most staff will speak English. Most are open from Monday to Saturday but there is a 24hour pharmacy that's open everyday in each town. If you feel a doctor is needed then there are many available 24/7: Dr Crichton Smith at The Crichton Clinic in Nueva Andalucia has over 20 years experience and can make house calls if necessary, as can Dr Borsani from The General Medical Clinic in Puerto Banus at any time of the day or night.

For medicine to cure pains and aches then you can ask the chemist for Dalsy and Apiretal - Dalsy is the Spanish equivalent of liquid ibruprofen and Apiretal is the Spanish equivalent of liquid paracetamol.
