International Calling and Telcos

An international dialing code is used to make an international phone call out of a country.

These codes are also referred to as international access codes, international direct dialing (ID) codes and exit codes. Here In Australia the ID code is 0011 for voice calls, in the U.S. it is 011 and in the UK it is 00.

The codes vary from country to country.

Example call from Australia to the UK: 0011 (Australian ID code) + 44 (UK) + (local number)

US to Melbourne, Australia:  011 (U.S. ID code) + 61 (Australia) + 3 (Melbourne) + (local No)

UK to Melbourne, Australia:  00 (UK ID code) + 61 (Australia) + 3 (Melbourne) + (local No)
