Hickinbotham of Dromana

Historic wine farm experience.

The Hickingbotham family have been involved in winemaking since the early 1920s and at their Dromana Vineyard the family's fourth generation currently produces excellent wines. The first 50 vintage wines from this vineyard were bottled in 1991 and hand-labelled and signed with a silver pen. That was the start of the Hickingbotham of Dromana, a winery that produces wines such as Taminga, Chardonnay with Aligote, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Merlot, Shiraz, Merlot and Strawberry Kiss, a unique sparkling wine made from strawberries. The family also brews its own beer, including Summer Ale, Pilsener, Pale Ale, Brown Ale, Stout and Barley wine.

This 15-acre vineyard is surrounded by lush woodland and a pretty dam. Five acres of the land is dedicated to wildlife, who live there in their natural habitat.

The estate offers wine tasting sessions and a shop at the Cellar Door, a rustic room where visitors are welcomed by an open fire in winter, and live music on weekends. Also, there is the Hickinbotham Café and Restaurant, which seats up to 90 people and a new outside area where up to 100 people can dine al fresco in the sun.

The café offers superb baked goods, a wholesome children's menu and superb food for adults. This popular location is a favourite for events and special celebrations. Hickinbotham of Dromana is not just a restaurant and winery - it's an experience for the whole family, encompassing wine and beer tasting, eating and having fun.
