Miami is officially classified is as a Tropical Monsoon Climate. This means that, for the most part, the city is warm and humid in the summer, and dry and comfortable in the winter. The winters are actually much more than comfortable, they are climatologically perfect!
The October – April period has a few nicknames given to it by those who know and love it. High Season, Winter Season, and Dry Season are just a few. The air has a velvety balminess to it, and when you get off of a plane coming from 20 – 30 °F (-7°C), it’s like stepping into paradise. The average temperature in the winter season is about 70 °F (21.1 °C), with lows going below 60 °F (10 °C) in the evening, but often reaching above 80 °F (26.67°C) during the day. The rainfall levels are significantly less than during the summer months, hence the name, Dry Season.

Generally speaking, South Florida’s prime coastal location, as well as its sea-level elevation, contributes to these desirable weather patterns.
