The Sokolniki Exhibition Complex and the Olimpijsky Sports Complex are also nearby; the hotel was completed in late 1979, just before the Moscow Olympics. This huge curving steel-and-glass hotel provides an escape for business travelers and families. It has a casino, a large indoor swimming pool and fitness centre, and bowling, billiards, and karaoke. Cosmos Rooms: The hotel has 1,777 air-conditioned guest rooms, including Standard Twin, Renovated and De Luxe rooms. There are also Junior Suites, Apartments and Grand Suites. The Apartments have a living room and a bedroom, a bathroom and a lavatory. The living room includes a six-person dining table and lounge seating, as well as a safe. Some have bars. Cosmos Restaurants & Bars: A buffet breakfast at the Kalinka restaurant is included in the room rate. Kalinka is based on an old Russian country house, with folk music in the evenings and an extensive menu. The Planet Cosmos restaurant is on the hotel’s 25th floor, to take advantage of the views. The menu features European and Russian dishes. The Terrasa Restaurant and Bar overlooks the main lobby. It also serves European and Russian dishes in a casual atmosphere; guests can also sing karaoke or play billiards and darts. The Jintang Chinese Restaurant offers Asian dishes. The Sacvoyage Café provides a cozy place to enjoy a meal or cocktail. The Solaris night club serves drinks. There is 24-hour room service. Cosmos Facilities: A concierge can help with sightseeing, entertainment, and travel arrangements. There is a cash machine, and guests can exchange foreign currency at the hotel.
