Muscovites are just as in love with the restaurant. Cafe Pushkin is open and popular at any time of the day or night with patrons occupying its historic floors and many halls.
Morning breakfast consists of nutritious meals, crispy pancakes with various fillings, cottage cheese and a variety of pastries, baked just before dawn. The scent of the freshest bakery can be invitingly smelt throughout the whole restaurant. "The Champagne breakfast" is a speciality of the house, reviving the royal tradition of the 18th century, when special guests were served French champagne for breakfast.
The daily menu is then served from 12:00 to 16:00 hrs. The menu prices throughout this time are significantly lower than in the remaining hours.
Cafe Pushkin is a historic house of the 19th century aristocrats. It has been meticulously restored but still contains those unique period features that retain its magic...the dark mirrors, walls covered with cracks, an elevator emitting a unique squeak...
Cafe Pushkin has three main levels - the Pharmacy Hall, the Library and the Mezzanine Hall. The Mezzanine is a second floor room in the Library. In addition, there are separate smaller rooms - the Cellar and the fireplace room. A rooftop terrace is also used for the restaurant in summer.
The interiors of the rooms are very much loyal to their respective names. The Pharmacy is laden with beakers, flasks and scales, the Library has a huge collection of valuable 18th to early 20th century books, telescopes and globes.
The Pushkin restaurant is situated close to many of Moscow's famous attractions such as the Gorky Art Theatre, the Oriental Museum and the Moscow Acedemic Theatre. Pushkin square with a monument of Pushkin himself is also situated close by.
Cafe Pushkin restaurant is truly a unique concept and perhaps the only one of its kind in Moscow.
