Basant means spring and Panchami means the fifth day. It is a festival which falls in the month of February every year. This day welcomes spring season and signifies the end of winter.
The fields are loaded with yellow mustard and the whole country side is delightfully covered in different shades of yellow flowers.
Basant Panchami is also believed to be the birthday of Goddess Saraswati and is celebrated in many educational institutions as the goddess symbolizes knowledge, wisdom and learning.Students offer their prayers and seek the blessings from the deity.
Sweet saffron rice is served on this day and people usually dress up in bright yellow colours.
