Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport

Earlier known as Sahar International Airport, is the busiest airport in Mumbai which handles up to 45 landings and takeoffs per hour. This Airport covers an area of 1450 acres and is located in the Mumbai suburb of Sahar. CSIA handles traffic of approx 29.1 million passengers and around 670,235 tons of cargo every year. It is situated 35 kms from Mumbai city centre.

The launch of CSIA’s new face has developed a unique visual identity of Indian Airport. The new identity is derived from the form of a peacock feather into which the acronym 'CSIA' is woven flawlessly. It captures three essential attributes: Pride in India, People and Service and Global Standards. The transformation of CSIA, a brown-field project, is a one-of-its-kind unique infrastructural project in the world, unlike any other airport development projects. The airport has two terminals one for domestic and another for international flights.

Mumbai has two airports. Amongst them, the International Airport  provides you many facilities like  Airline Lounge, ATM’S, Baggage Reclaim, Check-In Counters, Self Check-In Kiosk, Childcare, Forex Services, Inter Terminal Transfers, Left Luggage Facility, Medical Services, Parking Facility, Postal Services, Prayer Room, Smoking Lounge, Special Needs and Wi-Fi. It also offers various several Restaurants, Coffee Shops, Hotel Bookings and Pre-Paid Taxi services.

It has various retail stores present in every terminal and allows you for duty free shopping. The airport has an information centre which provides a lost and found department, information about important contacts numbers, about weather and customs & immigration.

Domestic Airport

in Mumbai is also named as Santacruz Airport and is located at 25 kms from the city centre. The airport at Santacruz caters to an extensive network of domestic destinations. Its geographical coordinates: 19° 5' 33" North, 72° 51' 18" East.

There are two domestic terminals - Terminal 1A and Terminal 1B. Terminal 1A serves Indian Airlines, Kingfisher and Go Air while Terminal 1B serves all the other Airlines. It has recently got a makeover and is now completely changed with additional facilities. Terminal 1B is bigger and lot less chaotic too. The airport is quite well planned and is world class.

The entrance of the airport has airline offices on either side or a ramp running through the middle of it going to the main entrance where the luggage screening machines are kept diagonally. There is a line of check in counters and there seem to be enough of them. It is under a huge see through roof which covers both the ceiling and one of the walls and thus the airport has a very open, airy and bright appearance to it.

The Airport terminal has public phones, Wi-Fi area, bookshops, auto rentals and a small cafe inside to name some of the facilities provided. The flooring of the airport is done with Italian Marble. This airport is a big step forward for Indian Airports and is not only designed well but also scores high on aesthetics and passenger convenience.
