Gaob Gave
The Gaub caves were discovered in 1913 by South West African historian Dr H Vedder. It is believed that the entrance was exposed after the heavy 1911/1912 rainy season. The cave system contains formations fitting to a national monument, including petrified waterfalls, organ pipes and crystal growths although it does lack stalactite – stalagmite formations. Visiting the caves can be a challenge so make sure you are well prepared, those suffering from claustrophobia are not advised to enter as the space inside is quite limited with low hanging formations. Mind the steep incline after passing through the narrow entrance. The caves are located on the privately owned Farm Gaub about 35km northeast of Otavi.
