San People

One of the last true cultures of Africa still practicing their way of life are the San. Their hunter-gatherer culture has evolved around living in harmony off the land. Along with their highly complicated click language, nomadic ways and creativity in terms of rock art and beading, the San are truly unique in that they can survive and even thrive in some of the seemingly most inhospitable environments. There are communities in the north east that offer travelers the chance to take part in some of their traditional activities, notably located at Omatako and Tsumkwe. Activities may include cooking, tracking and hunting.
