Etosha Pan & Game Viewing
Detailed maps with marked routes and waterholes can be bought at each park entrance as well as the rest camps. Roads are clearly marked and the speed limit is 40km/h. Take care to keep an eye on the clock as the day progresses, the park adheres strictly to opening and closing times of the main gates. The best times to visit the park are May to September during the dryer seasons. Wildlife and a myriad of bird species congregate around the drying waterholes and pans and make for stunning experiences. Coming from the east, Namutoni’s side, one of the most beautiful areas to visit is Fischer’s Pan. Splashed with whites and pinks during the rainy season, the pan offers breeding sites for flamingoes while also hosting a wide variety of other wading birds. Examples of a one day itinerary could be drafted as follows:
Waterholes and routes to visit when entering at Namutoni’s side are Koinachas, Chudop, Kalkheuwel, Twee Palms, Klein/Groot Okevi, Tsumcor, Klein Namutoni and Dik-Dik Drive with lunch at Namutoni Rest Camp.
Anderssons Gate offers the following options: Ombika, Okaukuejo, Okondeka, Adamax, Leeubron, Newbronii, Homob, Olifantsbad, Gemsbokvlakte and the "W" Road. Lunch can be enjoyed at Okaukuejo Rest Camp.
