Karasburg

Considered to be the hub of sheep farming in the south, the town of Karasburg boasts with the busiest train station in southern Namibia and also acts as a stopover point for the constant traffic to and from neighboring The town offers many amenities and facilities including a hospital, banks and the Kalkfontein Hotel amongst other accommodation options. Even though favorably suited for smaller airplanes, the town has its own airport which can also support with emergency landings for larger aircraft. Although exposed to extreme temperatures and a dry climate, Karasburg does not lack in character with local wildlife ranging from kudu, springbok and steenbok to jackal and caracal. The Bondels Dam, constructed in 1959, lies to the west of the town.
