Rundu

Rundu was declared the capital of the Kavango region in 1936 and is regarded as the frontier town of the north. As one of the fastest growing settlements in Namibia, it plays a very important economical role because it connects the harbor at Walvis Bay to the far reaches of Southern Africa. It is a place of many cultures coming together in one location and teems with character and atmosphere. Local artists can be admired at work at the Mbungura Woodcraft Co-operative while picturesque lodges dot the riverbanks. A wide variety of activities can be delighted in and the town is also an ideal stopover to refuel and restock on supplies before continuing north east towards the stunning Caprivi strip or south towards the rest of Namibia’s gem destinations.
