The Customhouse OverviewRelaxed & informal cafe restaurant on the waterfront, providing easy breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Separate bar area, children welcome. Catch a fish off the quayside and they'll cook it for you!
The Customhouse is a great place for taking the weight off - even if it's just for a lazy cup of coffee. Kids can sit by the quayside with their fishing rods (ask behind the bar, they've got spare ones...), while you relax with a cold beer and delicious sandwich. This is not a fast food joint, though - the menu hosts a comprehensive range of mouthwatering dishes including seafood chowder, house pate, beef kebabs and squid - and that's just brunch. In the evening, you can share a mezze plate, or beer-battered oysters (or oyster-battered beer, depending on how many you've had...), Wild Denver Leg, and even a Fillet Mignon - don't say they don't spoil you! The Customhouse Grills are well worth a try - you get a huge plate full of either salmon, rib-eye, fillet, chicken or sirloin, all served with salad and gourmet roast potatoes and finished off with a delicious sauce of your choice. The wine list is varied and the bar offers a great selection of beers and spirits. Set Menus are a convenient option to suit all budgets - anything from NZ$45-75, and all meals are cooked to order - so don't worry, that steak you've been looking forward to all day will be just perfect and well worth the wait. |
