In the heart of the North Island, about 130km south of Auckland, rolling hills and majestic forests shape the landscape. Hobbiton ‘Lord of the Rings’ film set

A Matamata sheep farm is one of New Zealand’s biggest attractions. It’s where visitors can see the remnants of the hobbit village ‘The Shire’. Created for the classic Lord of the Ring’s movie trilogy it has been a hub of tourist attention since the release of the popular movies. Getting There

Located just 15 kilometres from Hamilton city, the Hamilton International Airport services both international and domestic flights. Accessible by road, the Waikato region is a popular stop-off for those travelling south from Auckland. Several national bus networks stop in Hamilton en route to Auckland, Taupo, Rotorua and other major North Island destinations.
