Headquarters Restaurant OverviewQuayside cafe/restaurant famous for its hash browns and brunch bonanzas. Funky interior, lots of steel, brick and wood. Popular with the young set after somewhere cool to chill out.
Headquarters is an informal place, ideal for either starting off the day with one of their huge brekkies, or for a nice, relaxed dinner in the evening, as you watch the boats bobbing about on the water. With plenty of light flooding in during the day (and brilliant views at night), Headquarters has that 'local' feel about it - it's that place you wish you had around the corner from your house.
As mentioned, the hash browns are this place's crowning glory - we're not just talking some fried potatoes here, we're on about proper gourmet hash browns with sour cream & smoked salmon, or banana , syrup & cherry compote. Yes! On a hash brown! If that sounds just a little too weird, you can be a coward and settle for the regular "HQ HBs" as part of your "Cowboy Breakfast" or "Eggs Any Style".
Weekend brunches are rightly lazy and relaxed affairs and, aside from the you-know-whats, there's also 'afternoon pizza' and seafood chowders, together with a vast array of healthy juices to get those sugar levels back up after a hard night partying....
For dinner, Headquarters offers an eclectic choice of dishes, ranging from squid and mussels, to lamb shanks and crispy salmon. Wash everything down with a bottle of New Zealand's finest (NZ wine takes pride of place on Headquarters' wine list), and you'll leave this place one very happy camper.
