Portside Bar & Brasserie Overview

Relaxed brasserie with flexible menu choice, friendly staff and an enviable position right on Viaduct Harbour. Cosy in winter, refreshing in summer. Daily-changing specials and impressive wine list.

Portside Bar & Brasserie offers one of Auckland's most varied and extensive menus, with something to suit all moods and occasions, especially seafood lovers. The a la carte menu promises some great light bites such as local oysters and stuffed mushrooms, plus substantial mains like prawn linguine, marinated lamb loin, and an innovative fish Caesar salad. Kids get their own menu, which even has cocktails (non-alcoholic, of course!). For those who love to sit and just watch the world go by, there's a totally chilled out All Day Breakfast menu, with everything from pancakes and muesli, to vanilla glazed French toast and the 'Good Old Faithful' serving of eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns and everything else you can think of, plus a fantastic range of organic juices, teas and coffees.

Portside is particularly popular with the corporate crowd, and there's a convenient tapas menu (minimum 10 people), or tasty set menu, which are just perfect for those leisurely business lunches. Try the Portside Pizzas or the 'Warm Nibbles' platter, for something that will really impress those important clients. The brasserie's interior is modern and spacious, and outside there are tables and chairs to enjoy an al fresco bottle of Portside's own-label wine.

There's a very welcoming vibe here, so it's always busy, and the friendly and knowledgeable staff will be more than happy to make recommendations, should you have difficulty choosing which of the delicious dishes to plump for (a common problem....). To keep things interesting, there are daily specials which change regularly, and the brasserie cooks up a few well-respected signature dishes which show off the chef's skills with the freshest local meats and seafood. Add to the mix some dessert classics like peach plum crumble, crème brulee, and a very sinful warm lemon and sour cream slice, and they might have to roll you home from a night (or day!) out here.
