Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa, Al Husn Rooms:

The hotel has 179 guest rooms and suites, and all have views of the water or the resort’s gardens. Their balconies are furnished with tables, chairs and a small sofa. The luxurious contemporary décor is inspired by Arabian palaces, and features local artwork, a richly sophisticated color palette, and traditional lanterns. All of the hotel’s rooms have satellite flat-screen televisions with in-house movies and DVD players; the hotel will provide i-Pods to guests upon request. Guests can make their own coffee or tea, or enjoy a drink from the room’s mini-bar. There are writing desks and free broadband internet access, as well as telephones and a fax machine. The rooms have electronic safes. The marble bathrooms have a bath and a separate shower.

The suites have all of the same amenities as the guestrooms, as well as separate lounge and dining areas. They are furnished with flat screen televisions with DVD players. The suites have sea views even from the bathrooms, which have sliding glass panels overlooking the water. There are exclusive dining and bar areas in the resort that reserved for guests at this hotel. The Mahhara Beach Bar is for Al Husn hotel guests only. Shahrazad is a beautiful contemporary Moroccan restaurant, which has won awards for its décor. It is open for dinner only, with a formal dress code. Sultanah is designed to evoke the feel of a luxury cruise ship, and the dinner menu at this award-winning restaurant changes nightly. The restaurant also serves lunch and dinner. Dress is formal here as well. Bait Al Bahr is between Al Waha and Al Bandar, and serves seafood. Tapas & Sablah serves tapas, mezze, and Asian small dishes during the evenings, in a piazza in the centre of the resort. The Al Husn Lounge in the lobby serves tea and cocktails. The Al Muheet pool bar provides drinks and snacks in a sophisticated setting. The Silver Lounge is a cigar lounge serving fine wines and cocktails in an upscale residential setting.

The Chi Spa at the resort offers Asian health and beauty treatments, in one of twelve villas. The spa has its own gardens, and includes an herbal steam room, various showers, an ice fountain, and a hydro pool. The resort offers excursions and lessons in snorkeling and scuba diving, for both new and experienced divers. There are also whale and dolphin-watching excursions, and during the first half of the year, guests may be able to watch sea turtles nesting and laying eggs. The resort’s beaches are equipped with bathrooms, showers, sun loungers and umbrellas, towels, and bar services. Guests at this hotel have exclusive access to a private beach with its own bar. The hotel also has its own private pool. The swimming pools provide free cold water to drink, and towels. The pools at Al Waha and Al Bandar are connected by a Lazy River ride. The resort has a fitness centre and four tennis courts, and schedules various optional group activities. There are a number of shops at the resort. The hotel has a number of activities for children, including a children’s club, daily activities, and an Omani Heritage Village complete with horses and camels.
