Our Local Experts say:

A visit to a fort or castle is a great opportunity to imagine what life was like in Oman centuries ago.

Educate yourself about how the architecture is used to control interior temperature while providing defence. The view from the top is nice too! There are hundreds of forts and castles around the country, some being in their original state while others have been heavily restored. The Omani Government is instrumental in preserving these sites.
