With just two days to go until the 2012 Extreme Sailing Series commences, The Wave, Muscat and the seven other international teams that will compete for the championship title have arrived in Muscat.

The line up of sailors competing in Muscat is impressive, with world-renowned sailors who amongst them boast 21 Olympians, 36 America’s Cup campaigns, seven global circumnavigations and 47 World Championship titles.

The Wave, Muscat team challenging for glory will once again be led by Britain’s Leigh McMillan for the second year.

The Wave, Muscat will also be joined by British female sailor, Rachel Williamson, who will sail in the fifth position on board in Muscat.

With racing taking place just off the beach at The Wave, Muscat public will have front row seats to all the action, where they can come and support their home team, The Wave, Muscat. In addition to the Extreme Sailing Series, there will be a host of family entertainment with a range of fun on and off-the-water activities, shows and entertainment in the public village, which will be open from the 29 February-2 March, from 11am-6pm everyday.

Football Tournament The tournament, which is supported by the Oman Football Association, has already attracted huge interested, with 128 teams registered, compared to 71 in 2011! Matches take place between 1400 hours and 2000 hours so why not come down and show your support to the teams!

Try Sailing Why not get out on the water and give sailing a go for yourself! Oman Sail will be offering trial sessions in the afternoons on March 1st and 2nd. Register at the venue as space? is limited.

Porsche Kids Driving School Oman Sail invite you and your family for an afternoon of fun and excitement. Children between the ages of 3 – 9 years will have the chance to ride in mini Porsche cars around a custom built city. Enjoy the ride of your life!

Kids Zone A variety of fun activities will be on offer for children including bouncy castles, face painting and pony rides. Come and experience the fun!

Mini Golf Tee off and test your skills with Almouj Golf. See whether your swing can challenge those of the pros!

Food and Beverage A variety of your favorite food and beverage retailers will be on hand, including Second Cup and BreadTalk.

Oman Sail are very pleased to announce that Salah Al Zidjali, one of Oman’s most popular singers, will officially close the Extreme Sailing Series Muscat with a free concert to the crowds, before and after racing.

The Extreme Sailing Series is a unique concept, pitting some of the very best professional sailing teams in the world against each other on identical Extreme 40 catamarans, close to shore to provide spectacular entertainment for the public.

The 2012 Series will visit eight venues between now and December before the overall Series champion is decided at the final event in Brazil. The Wave, Muscat won the Extreme Sailing Series in 2010, and are be looking to reclaim the crown for the 2012 Series.
