Our Local Experts say:
Proper Persian food is simply delicious and notably distinguishable from the cuisine of neighbouring Arab countries. Of course, lamb and rice form an integral part of the menu but the differences lie in the intense and fragrant seasonings.
Yoghurt is used to tenderise meats and poultry and to add a wonderfully creamy texture to dishes. Flavours are kept light and lively by the use of fresh mint, lemon, saffron and dill. Walnuts can be found in salads and sauces, creating a very unique taste and an interesting texture. Definitely worth investigating for something a little different.
