Wat Yansangwararam

Although Wat Yangsangwararam (locally known as Wat Yan) is a modern construction, the temple is thought of as being the most important in the Pattaya/Satahip area.
The beautiful wat can be reached by road about 15 kilometers south of Pattaya. Wat Yan is under the direct patronage of his majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
The Wat is actually a massive compound containing a collection of Buddhist buildings, monuments, lakes and stupas covering some 150 acres. Other than worship areas, the complex contains, buildings used for meditation courses, training of monks, schools and accommodation for monks and novices.
The largest chedi or pagoda (pictured here) is over 40 meters tall and contains Buddha relics . There is also a Khmer mandapa (pavilion) containing a Buddha footprint relic.
The temple was founded in 1976 and it's development has continued since at an estimated cost of 30 Billion Baht ($700 Million).
A visit to Wat Yan is highly recommended for it's shady walks and calm spiritual serenity. We advise you to come to Wat Yan as early as possible to avoid the Busloads of tourists and the midday heat.
