My Destination Phuket is part of the My Destination network. A global network of sites created in 2006 by two young entrepreneurs, James Street & Neil Waller. My Destination is focused on providing websites that offer unrivalled levels of local information, actually written by locals. Each site is run by a team on the ground in each destination who have their fingers on the pulse and are providing real time information. The websites combine accurate information on the local area and businesses with the added usability of an online booking engine, offering travellers a one-stop shop where they can research and book their holiday on a single website.
The websites are fresh and simple in design, with a firm focus on quality and quantity of content. Reviews are always written first-hand and every effort is taken to obtain the best images and information available in order to present a true representation of the services on offer. User-generated content and feedback is also built into the website, building upon content quantity and accuracy; major features of the service we provide.

Heading up My Destination Phuket - Grenville Fordham

Armed with several years experience and a degree in Hotel & Tourism Management from Surrey University, Gren ditched the hotel business to travel the world for eight years as a marketing man for the somewhat unglamorous Rawlplug Company – and had a ball!

After a few years interlude as a London property developer – a rags-to-riches-to-rags experience – 1995 found him tossing a coin between Mexico and Thailand. Thailand won and, armed with a Diploma in Journalism from London's Birkbeck College, he landed jobs as a staff writer, then editor, on newspapers and magazines in Bangkok and Phuket, and as a freelance writer for international magazines and journals.

He started a graphic design/copywriting business in 1999 but after just two years switched to publishing his own niche ‘information’ guides, covering dining, property, spas, island lifestyle and sailing. Still restless, in 2003 and 2004 he founded the Phuket Boatshow and Six Senses Phuket Raceweek – a 5-day feast of yacht racing and beach parties.

Gren discovered sailing when he moved to Phuket and has become an enthusiastic – if not always winning – participant in the Southeast Asian yacht racing scene; in 2008 he launched a new business, building fast sailing catamarans. He lives on Phuket with his Thai wife, Jiab, and 7-year-old daughter, Nina.

"I realised a long time ago that – as much as I wanted to do it – we don't have the resources to create, and make a success of, our own destination website. When I was introduced to Neil through the local British Business Association, MyDestination looked like the answer. But what clinched it, as much as the sites, was Neil's enthusiasm and ‘can-do’ business style."
