As it so happens this restaurant Kolkovna always carried the Pilsner Urquell beer anyway but because of its superb location and its allegiance to the beer it was able, after considerable reconstruction of the premises, to become the stand out bar and restaurant it is today. Not only the best beer in the Czech Republic flows from its shiny brass taps, but there is also excellent cuisine to be chosen from their very comprehensive menu.
CUISINE AND SPECIALITIES: Not to be caught out by the Lunch time crowds dining elsewhere more economically during that time of day Kolkovna Restaurant also does its very own Midday Menu too which is quickly prepared and comes in at very good value. The choices on offer are usually available for perusal at least five or six days in advance and so you can have already selected mentally what you want before you arrive in. Generally it is based on a Soup Starter followed by a meat based Main Course there being one from two of which you can choose. The main A La Carte menu is a much more varied affair composed of numerous Starters many of which are delightful like Oak Smoked Duck Breast, and the Beef Carpaccio start off the many selections. Next Come Pasta or Rice based possibilities accompanied by Chicken, Ham and the like. Being the kind of restaurant this is, which celebrates all things Czech there is a marvelous amount of quintessentially Czech dishes to discover.
ATMOSPHERE AND STYLE: The atmosphere in Kolkovna Olympia Restaurant is a kind of new-old style. The interior is ever so modern and clean but the ambience tries to recreate a mood of the past. The lay out and shape of the restaurant is long and hall like with round tables down the centre and more comfortable seating along the perimeters. The bar has numerous great solid taps shiny and pristine from which the cool beer seems to neverendingly pour. This is a good place for coming into with friends for sampling a Czech experience of a certain kind, especially the food which is quite expensive but nevertheless wholesome and very good.
