![]() SaSaZu Restaurant Prague OverviewINTRODUCTION: Sasazu, in the Holesovice part of Prague is rightly celebrated for its enormous music and dance club, but what not everybody knows it also has one of the most exciting Asian restaurants in the city attached to it. Now, opening an Asian restaurant is no easy feat to get right unless one has a genuine and talented Asian Head Chef and in the person of Shahaf Shabtay this is exactly what Sasazu has. A highly experienced and far-travelled man throughout all of Southeast Asia he has a tremendous ability to work with food and turn it into something memorable.
CUISINE AND SPECIALITIES: The menu at Sasazu's Asian restaurant is magnificent in its variety. The chef and his team get to use the full range of their talents and for Dinner or for Lunch what is particularly popular is their Sambal which is traditionally made from chili, ginger, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, shallots, lemon grass, kemiri nuts and kaffir leaves. To go with that you could have the Sashimi which consists of Sea bass, Miso yuzu, and Spring onion. Look out then for some delightful Soups not least the Coconut Soup and then be sure to not miss delicious preparations such as the Otak Otak and its Tamarind Duck, Cambodian Sirloin, Pathi, Momo Fuku and much, much more. Sasazu Asia is just waiting to be discovered. To go with such superb fare is any number of Drinks but at a place like this Water can be best during the meal and then you can move to something stronger afterwards.
ATMOSPHERE AND STYLE: The interior of Sasazu's Asian restaurant is like a trip into another world the moment you walk in. At first you think the lighting is much too low but gradually you realise that this is exactly right as your eyes accustom to your surroundings. And a very big place it is too with room for lots of near life-size terra-cotta statues and amazing hourglass shaped lights in a kind of hypnotizing orange colour. Enormous chandeliers hang effortlessly from the ceiling but these ones contain no glass or crystal, they just seem to hover in their in their light wooden frames. Seating is intimate and the tables are placed nicely apart from one another for maximum intimacy and pleasure.
FURTHER iNFORMATION: So much belief have Sasazu in the quality of the food at their restaurant that they have decided to organise trips to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam for those who not only can't get enough of the food but would like to experience even more about this fascinating part of Asia. If such an undertaking is just a step too far for you, you could still sign up to join Chef Shahaf Shabtay at his Cooking School for an amazing two hour workshop where we would learn the principals and techniques of Asian cooking, the special ingredients and unique joys of Asia. The restaurant is very close to Vltavska metro station, and by taking the tram or even walking from there to Prague’s market you will be right at your destination.
