U Modre Ruze (In the Blue Rose) is a really beautiful restaurant situated on Rytirska St which places it perfectly between Wenceslas Square and Old Town Square. Even better is the news that the restaurant is to be found downstairs in original and wonderfully preserved gothic era cellars with magnificent rounded ceilings and incredibly thick walls. This is a place for dining par excellence for the interior has been gorgeously decorated and the cuisine is superb.

Where you will find yourself once you enter is in a historic building going back fully 650 years when it was first mentioned in the annals of Prague. It served a brewery down the centuries and as a kind of tavern. Today it is serving the public again as an eating establishment and has gained a reputation for outstanding food. There are in fact three menu cards here depending on what it is you would like to choose, there is an A La Carte menu, a Gourmet Menu, and a Bohemian Menu.

The A La Carte menu is of course the one with the most choices and few restaurants can boast of such a range of memorable dishes. Hot and Cold hors douevres immediately seek your attention and just a sample of what you could start with as an appetiser include Marinated Wild salmon, or Home Made Goose Pate. For something warmer how about the Stuffed Escargots done in Burgundy Style, or SweetBread of Veal. The main course options are simply unforgettable and a tribute to the imagination and creativity of the chefs. Select from Fish dishes like Stuffed Sole, or Monkfish, perhaps go for something Poultry like Chicken Breast Marengo, or Flambeed Cumberland Duck, or maybe a Beef offering from the finest Hereford Bull such as Stroganoff, RibEye or superb Chateaubriand which actually serves two people. Additionally there are some House Specialities and Czechh Specialities to be considered as well because they are exquisite. Tempting you will be Pheasant Breast, Cheateabriand of Deer Saddle, and Lamb Chops with Young Onions in Caramel to mention just a few.

As earlier stated there are two other menus and the Gourmet Menu is truly for those who cherish a superb meal. At U Modré Ruze the Gourmet offerings centre around delicacies like Goose Pate, Cray Fish, Wild Duck Breast, and a delicious Sweet Kiss dessert to finish. The Bohemian Menu is well worth investigating too with its Czech origins and here you can joyfully dine on Smoked River Trout, or Roasted Duck, and Neck of Pork, with traditionally Czech Apple Strudel to round off the experience.

U Modre Ruze restaurant does a splendid selection of local, international and vintage Wines which perfectly complement your dining. All other quality drinks are on the menu also as no stone has been left unturned in this old time cellar restaurant to ensure you have a wonderful dining experience.
